I don’t know what you guys are paying for gasoline…. but here in California we are paying up to $3.75 to $4.10 per gallon. My line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money’s worth for every gallon:
Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.
Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening….your gallon is not exactly a gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.
When you’re filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. You should be pumping on low mode, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you’re getting less worth for your money.
One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL. The reason for this is the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.
Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up; most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.
To have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of gas buyers. It’s really simple to do.
I’m sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)…and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers !!!!!!! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted!
If It goes one level further, you guessed it….. THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!
Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people. How long would it take?

A History Lesson on Your Social Security Card

Something to ponder:

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (and some older ones) didn’t know this.

easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your family
and friends. They need a little history lesson on what’s what and it doesn’t matter
whether you are Democrat or Republican. Facts are Facts.

Social Security

Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and
Card were not to be used for identification purposes. Since nearly everyone in the
United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the
message, NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION was removed.

An old Social Security card with the “NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION”message.
Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program. He promised:

1) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,

No longer Voluntary

2) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65%
On the first $90,000.

3) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,

No longer tax deductible

4) That the money the participants put in went to the
Independent ‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the
General Operating Fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,

Under Johnson the money was moved to
The General Fund and spent.

5) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed
as income.

Under Clinton & Gore
up to 85% of your Social Security can be taxed.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are
now receiving a Social Security check every month —
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of
the money we paid to the Federal government to ‘put
away — you may be interested in the following:

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —-

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
Independent ‘Trust Fund’ and put it into the
General Fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratically
controlled House and Senate.

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

A: The Democratic Party.

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the
‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the U.S.

———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Q: Which Political Party decided to start
giving annuity payments to immigrants?

A: That’s right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!

———— — ———— ——— —– ———— ——— ———

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),
the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!

And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!
If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of
awareness will be planted and maybe changes will
But it’s worth a try.
How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

The Muslims are NOT happy!!!

I have to admit, this is brilliant…never heard it put this way…so succinct and to the point…plain and simple!!!

They’re not happy in Gaza ..
They’re not happy in Egypt ..
They’re not happy in Libya ..
They’re not happy in Morocco ..
They’re not happy in Iran ..
They’re not happy in Iraq ..
They’re not happy in Yemen ..
They’re not happy in Afghanistan ..
They’re not happy in Pakistan ..
They’re not happy in Syria ..
They’re not happy in Lebanon ..

They’re happy in Australia ..
They’re happy in Canada ..
They’re happy in England ..
They’re happy in France ..
They’re happy in Italy ..
They’re happy in Germany ..
They’re happy in Sweden ..

Basically, they’re happy in every country that is not Muslim and unhappy in every country that is!

Not Islam.
Not their leadership.
Not themselves.

AND THEN; They want to change those countries to be like….

Excuse me, but I can’t help wondering … How dumb can you get?
— Thank you, Michael Broyles for sharing this with me.

Go Back to Your Corner!

I really try to stay pragmatic about issues, though I have my own views and preferences.  But I like to discuss and banter with my friends because honest and vigorous debate is the heart of our Republic.  I just don’t get how some people will come out with both gloves on if they disagree with an honest statement of mine, or a difference of opinion! It’s like all of a sudden there’s a reason to be defensive.  Seriously?!!  I don’t always know WHERE a fact came from; I don’t always know WHY I know something (maybe it’s inbred); but I DO know MY beliefs, and you don’t have to agree with them … just be civil and respectful, and so will I.

Welcome to MY world!~!~!

OK, … a couple of years ago I decided to jump on the “Blogosphere” and start this really neat blog where I could just rant and rave and “tell it like it is.” Well, that lasted for a minute and I got bored of it, nobody was reading or commenting and I got addicted to that “other” social media venue: FACEBOOK! Ech … what a mistake that was/is …

So I’m going to try this again and TRY to keep my political views OFF Facebook and my opinions of “non-cocktail conversation” subjects HERE instead.

So let’s see how this works … I publish, YOU comment, I respond, others comment, I and you respond. We all make our points, remain calm and avoid rudeness and name-calling — and we ALL feel “gooshy” because we’ve gotten it off our chest and move on to the next subject.

OK?!! Let’s DO THIS …

How times have changed!

I remember going on a high school class trip, back in the day, to our local IBM office … you remember “big blue” IBM? THE computer giant of its time. This was back when a 20-meg office computer was the size of a room, complete with built-up floors with circulating air conditioning underneath, generators for backup power, and media storage was on a disk the size of a 78-rpm record … uh, we’re not gonna go THERE!

So, anyway, our business ed class went to the “big city” of Jefferson City, in central Missouri, to tour the IBM facility.  The office standard for the era was the electronic typewriter, the IBM Selectric if you will, with little round typewheels that could be interchanged for Elite, Pica, and Script typestyle.  (OMG, somebody get me my cane and oxygen!) The “newest and best” technological breakthrough at the time was the wordprocessor, basically, an electric typewriter that had a 200-page memory on a vinyl “floppy” disk the size of a 45-rpm record – that would be something like a salad plate.  Boy, were we excited that we got a chance to see this modern marvel and to sit down at this wordprocessor and type a letter, correct it as we go, and watch it print out when we were done with a picture-perfect business letter!  How much easier could it be?!!

Advance to today … and I don’t even KNOW most of the electronic advances that have come out recently … We have memory chips the size of a post-it note that can hold gigabytes of storage (that’s, like, millions of billions of electronic bits of binary information) on hand-held computers that can connect with people worldwide.  Those same computers can order and ship products worldwide, buy and sell billions of dollars of investments in less than a second, transfer funds from one country to another, connect you with family and friends throughout the world, and, literally, run countries (or destroy them) with the touch of a button or a single keystroke!

Yes, we’ve come a long way … and all we focus on is what somebody in the public eye said to a group meeting 25 years ago, whether or not somebody’s blue dress is stained, or if a want-to-be celebrity is in or out of rehab!

We’ve come a long way … or have we?!!

Hello world!

I have finally entered the world of the Blogosphere!  This is where I will publish MY thoughts on whatever I want, whenever I want, for any reason, or for no reason other than just because “I CAN!” If you like it, follow it; if you don’t like it … LEAVE!
